8 of wands

A few words to describe the card:

Movement, action, smooth journey

8 of Wands

When you see the 8 of wands tarot card in a deck, it can almost be a sign of something waiting to happen. This card is a sign of action without obstacles.

The sky is clear, there’s nothing in your path, and all signs are pointing in one direction. It’s time to harness this energy and go. There’s a swiftness about this card that makes you get ready and go.

Whether you’ve been waiting for a moment to act or not, this is your time. Whether it’s an idea that’s just come to your mind, or one you’ve been thinking about for a while, this is a sign to do it. Don’t overthink it, second guess yourself, or even really take time to plan. Just go for it. You’re on the right path.

This card can also physically represent travel, going swiftly and smoothly.

Card Imagery

In most tarot decks, the 8 of wands will be the 8 wands pointing in the sky. One side of the wand is off the card, and the other seems to be hovering over something, or in the air. Often, you can tell that this is the end of the wand because it either is lit up by light, fire, or has some growth coming out of the end.

Often, there’s nothing else really in the imagery other than the wands pointing upwards in an otherwise clear sky. There can also be fire associated with this tarot card, as wands are associated with the element of fire, which is high energy.

Still Confused?

Still confused about the meanings of the cards? A few tools that have been really helpful for me have been: practice, taking the time to look at each card, read books like Tarot: Learn How to Read and Interpret the Cards by Kim Arnold. Or try out tarot spreads! Try doing a simple reading every day. The Labyrinthos app is really helpful too. Or try some that I’ve created by looking here: Tarot Spreads.
