9 of wands

A few words to describe the card:

Endure, training, keep going

9 of Wands

The 9 of wands tarot card is a card of hard work. It symbolizes the need for patience and strength. You won’t immediately succeed if you haven’t trained for it. Some things come easily, this card means it does not. There’s a reason people go to school – to learn before they know. That weight lifters practice, and start with low weights before they go to heavier weights. It’s because this knowledge, this strength, requires more.

If you see this card in a reading, it means that effort is required. You can’t start at the top with something new, you have to work your way towards it.

Just keep in mind that the path may be difficult, but you are working your way towards the knowledge or strength.

Card Imagery

Often, this card depicts a single person holding one of the wands. The other 8 are setup in a fence or are standing in the background. This wand they are holding is supporting them, often physically helping keep them upright because of all of they have endured.

The artwork feels as though something in the image is unfinished. But they need the support of that 9th wand.

Still Confused?

Still confused about the meanings of the cards? A few tools that have been really helpful for me have been: practice, taking the time to look at each card, read books like Tarot: Learn How to Read and Interpret the Cards by Kim Arnold. Or try out tarot spreads! Try doing a simple reading every day. The Labyrinthos app is really helpful too. Or try some that I’ve created by looking here: Tarot Spreads.
