This is the rune for light and illumination. It’s still in Freyr’s Aett, and is a rune pointing you in the direction to go.
Kenaz translation: torch
Other spellings: Ken, Kaun, Kano
Meaning
The kenaz rune is a rune of light, and illumination. This can be bringing light to a situation, or telling you which way to go. Use this rune like it’s pointing you in the direction you need to follow.
This is the way to go, and follow this warmth to guide you in the right path.
There is another definition this rune can also mean is an ulcer or wound. This is very opposite what was just written, but is the other translation of this rune.
If you’re using this ulcer translation, it can represent dangerous pathways, and being deceived by the light.
Symbolism
The reason this can mean both translations of both light illuminating and being an ulcer or a wound could be due to the fact that fire and flames are explosive. So this fire of the torch could be pointing the way somewhere, or be a symbol of pain and health problems.
This is a rune that can be found in the Loki series, which you can read about here.
Relating To Other Runes
Look at the runes kenaz is pointing to, as this rune could literally be illuminating what you need to pay attention to. Think of this rune as a spotlight in a rune spread, as to what is being illuminated.
If it’s pointing away from another rune, pay attention to that too. This may be something that’s being hidden in the shadows, or something to walk away from.
